CNY Dinner @ Unique Seafood Restaurant, Section 13

It's here! On Friday, 16 January 2009, a dinner was held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations (before most of us returned to our hometowns)... Enjoy the pics guys!

A must have for CNY dinners - Yee Sang! Popularity vote for Salmon Yee Sang.

Everyone enjoyed the lou sang, as you can see from the mess at the table. We couldn't really spot the salmon slices though.

Lots of beer to go along with the seafood!

'Pak Chiok Ha' - fresh juicy prawns which are simply boiled and served. Eaten with some dark sauce and chilli. Certainly a good way to start the meal.

more beer!

Lala soup

Baked garden japanese snail - usually quite tasty but a bit rubbery and hard that night.

Stir fried venison. Delicious.

'Ku Lou Kai' or Sweet Sour Chicken - this was certainly one of the favourites that night

Steamed 'Lou Fu Pan' - small but ugly fish that is suitable for steaming & probably one of the cheaper fish at Unique Seafood ;)

This is their famous house specialty Kai Lan. The leafs are fried till crispy. Yums.

We also had fried noodles which is not in the pictures. We were so stuffed by then and most of it were packed for take-away.
Dinner that night came to slightly over RM80 per person...

Asian Terrace @ Solaris Mont Kiara

Asian Terrace, at Solaris, serves Asian food, but mainly Thai. To be honest, I didn't scrutinise the menu but just had a look at their set lunches and compared to their ala carte dishes. Set lunches are only about RM2-4 higher than ala carte dishes and so it only makes sense to get the sets which includes drinks, appetiser, main course and desert. My first impression was that it'll probably turn out to be some reddish syrup as drinks, small portion of appetiser and fruits as desert, but I was wrong...

At the table, I was greeted by this nice fresh flower...which will die very soon...poor thing....

And then comes the food...for RM17.90 (incl taxes), you'll get these:

1. Lemongrass drink and an appetiser - Samosa and mango salad

2. Main course - Rice with green curry chicken and vegetables

3. Dessert - Mango sago

All in all, decent food for the price. Green curry was pretty creamy. Nothing too spicy, nothing too sweet. Presentation wise, nice dishing on a set of whites against dark coloured wooden table.

Ambience wise, there's good airflow as it occupies a corner lot and simple deco with some emphasis on greens, with oriental instrumental pieces playing on the background.

One little drawback though, the maincourse took a little more time than usual to be served. Not sure if it's a New Year glitch or a norm. Perhaps the next trip will tell more. But this was offset by RM5 voucher that they gave for the next ala carte food which is valid for dinner and dine in only.

In a nutshell, a simple but fine lunch for under RM20 per person.
